2019 Tournament Results

We’ll have a bigger breakdown of the event later but for now, here’s the full results of the 2019 March Madness Bottle Share Tournament.

Here’s a link to the PDF version since that will probably be a lot easier to read.

For the first time ever, a non-pastry stout has won the Bottle Share Tournament. Fremont Brew 3000 carved a path of destruction through a Chicago-only, crowlered BCBS variant, Half Acre Double Dose Benthic, Shared Coconut Vibes, Kane Sunday Brunch, and 3F Hommage.

Before 2019, no barleywine had ever won more than one match. This year Brew 3000 won 5, Kuhnhenn Bourbon Barrel Barleywine ’17 won 2, and Modern Times Alter of the Orc Lord won once.

With the exception of Hommage, all of the other lambic entrants were snuffed out in the opening round. The Rare Barrel had some surprising wins. I was personally very impressed with Tiki Party.

For the second year in a row the #1 overall seed, which was Mornin Delight, made it to the Final Four but didn’t cash it in.

The 2019 March Madness Bottle Share Tournament winning brewery Fremont, becomes the only 2 time Tournament winner after winning in 2015 with Coffee Cinnamon B-Bomb.
